Our Approach to Science

We start with what the evidence actually says.

Not what sounds compelling in a marketing brief. Not what sells. Every formula we make starts with a single question: what does the research say?

How We Work

Four principles that govern every formula we make

Evidence Before Claims

We do not make claims we cannot support Every benefit statement is grounded in peer-reviewed research and, where applicable, European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) or UK-authorised nutrient health claims. We do not use the phrase 'clinically proven' unless referring to a specific nutrient in a specific context where that evidence exists. When research is promising but not conclusive, we say so. When dosages used in studies differ from standard supplement use, we say so.

 Ingredients, Not Proprietary Blends

No blends. No hiding. Proprietary blends exist to hide underdosing. When a label lists a 'cognitive performance blend' with five ingredients and a total weight of 200mg, you have no way of knowing whether any individual ingredient is present at a meaningful dose. Every Lux Vita formula lists each ingredient by name and by exact amount per serving. You see exactly what you are taking and exactly how much.

 Form and Bioavailability

The form matters as much as the ingredient The ingredient on the label is only part of the picture. What matters equally is the form it takes and how effectively your body can absorb and use it. We choose ingredient forms based on bioavailability evidence, not cost. Where a more bioavailable form exists and the evidence supports its superiority, we use it. This is why we use Magnesium L-Threonate rather than magnesium oxide, and why our Lion's Mane uses a dual-extraction liquid format rather than a raw powder capsule.

Third-Party Testing

Independent verification, every batch Every batch of Lux Vita products is tested by an independent third-party laboratory for purity, potency, and the absence of heavy metals and contaminants. We do not rely solely on supplier certificates of analysis. We verify independently. Certificates are available on request.

What goes in, and why

Every active compound in the Lux Vita range, explained plainly. Mechanisms, evidence, and honest context.

Shilajit

A resinous substance from high-altitude mountain rock formations the result of centuries of microbial decomposition of plant matter under geological pressure. A central compound in Ayurvedic medicine for over 3,000 years, now supported by modern research across mitochondrial function, testosterone support, and cognitive health

Key Active Compounds

  • Fulvic Acid (15–20%)
  • Dibenzo-Alpha-Pyrones
  • Ionic Trace Minerals

NAD+ / NMN

NAD+ is a coenzyme found in every cell, essential to energy metabolism and DNA repair. Levels decline significantly with age. NMN is the most direct oral precursor to NAD+, raising cellular levels effectively in human trials. Much of the most compelling research has been conducted in animal models human trials are ongoing and the evidence, while promising, is still developing.

Key Mechanisms

  • Mitochondrial function
  • DNA repair via PARP
  • Sirtuin activation

Creatine Monohydrate

A naturally occurring compound synthesised from amino acids in the liver, kidneys, and pancreas. Its primary role is in the phosphocreatine energy system — the fastest pathway for regenerating ATP during high-intensity effort. Over 500 peer-reviewed studies. Classified by the International Society of Sports Nutrition as the most effective ergogenic supplement available to athletes.

Evidence Areas

  • Strength & power
  • Cognitive function
  • Recovery

Magnesium L-Threonate

Developed at MIT to address a limitation of all other magnesium supplements: the difficulty of crossing the blood-brain barrier. Magnesium is involved in over 300 enzymatic processes. This specific form was engineered to maximise brain penetration — and the research evidence supports this claim. The only form of magnesium shown to significantly raise brain magnesium levels.

Key Mechanisms

  • NMDA receptor regulation
  • Synaptic plasticity
  • GABA support

Lion's Mane

Contains a unique class of bioactives hericenones from the fruiting body and erinacines from the mycelium that stimulate the synthesis of Nerve Growth Factor (NGF), a neurotrophin essential for the maintenance of cholinergic neurons involved in memory and attention. No other natural compound studied to date replicates this mechanism. Results are cumulative, typically requiring 8–16 weeks of consistent daily use.

Key Active Compounds

  • Hericenones
  • Erinacines
  • Beta-glucans

Methylene Blue

A synthetic redox cycling compound with a long history in clinical medicine. At low doses (0.5–4mg/kg), research suggests mitochondrial efficiency improvements and cognitive benefits in healthy adults. This is an advanced compound with a narrow therapeutic window, significant drug interactions including a well-documented serotonin syndrome risk with SSRIs and SNRIs and contraindications that must be understood before use. Not for beginners.

Critical Contraindications

  • SSRIs / SNRIs / MAOIs
  • G6PD deficiency
  • Pregnancy

Our Commitments

What we will not do

We will not make disease claims. Supplements are not medicines.

We will not use before-and-after imagery that implies guaranteed results.

We will not cite cherry-picked or low-quality studies to support a predetermined conclusion.

We will not exaggerate effects or use language designed to manufacture excitement.

We will not hide behind vague terminology when plain language serves better.

We will not use proprietary blends to conceal ingredient doses from you.

A Note on Individual Variation

The science reflects populations. Your experience may differ.

Supplements do not work identically for every person. Genetics, existing nutrient status, diet, sleep, and lifestyle all influence how your body responds to any given compound. The science we reference reflects population-level research. Your individual experience may differ. We encourage you to track your own response, adjust accordingly, and consult a healthcare professional if you have any underlying conditions or are taking medication.
