Why we test every batch
Share
Most supplement companies test their products. Some test ingredients, some test finished products, some test only when a regulator asks them to. The differences matter.
At Lux Vita we test every finished batch before it ships. Not a sample of batches. Not a one-off when the formula was first developed. Every batch.
What that actually means
When a batch of finished product comes off the line, we send a sample to an independent ISO-accredited laboratory. The standard panel covers:
- Identity. Is the ingredient what the label says it is? For botanicals this matters more than people realise — the wrong species is a real industry problem.
- Potency. Is the active present at the dose the label claims? Many supplement brands declare doses on the label that the finished product doesn’t actually contain.
- Heavy metals. Lead, arsenic, cadmium, mercury. These accumulate from soil, water, and processing equipment. UK and EU food law sets maximum limits; we test against our own internal limits, which are tighter.
- Microbial load. Total aerobic count, yeasts and moulds, and specific pathogens like E. coli and Salmonella. Important for botanicals and powders.
- Pesticide residues, for botanicals. Because no plant is grown in a vacuum.
What happens if a batch doesn’t pass
It doesn’t ship. We’d rather be late than wrong. Our internal spec is tighter than the legal limit, so “doesn’t pass” doesn’t mean “dangerous” — it means below the standard we hold ourselves to.
This is the part of the process that costs money and time and that most customers will never see. We think it’s the part that earns the right to ask for trust.
Where to see the results
Certificates of analysis are published on each product page as they’re issued, and available on request for any batch by emailing hello@luxvita.uk. If you want to see the COA before you order, write to us — we’ll send the most recent one.
This is what an honest label is supposed to mean. Not a phrase on the bottle — a paper trail you can follow.
